About Neil McNamara

Guitarist Neil McNamara has been teaching Guitar in Bergen County for over 30 years. In his teen years he studied with noted Guitar Teacher Van Moretti and his college years were spent at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he graduated with a degree in Composition.

At Berklee his Guitar instructors included Bill Leavitt, Al DeFino and Jon Damien, and ensemble teachers John LaPorta and Bob Mover. After moving back to NJ Neil studied with Guitarist Vic Juris as well as studying Classical Guitar with Professor Dennis Cinelli at Montclair State University.

Neil’s extensive teaching background has given him a great insight into developing a student’s abilities on Guitar and has helped him relate to all levels of Students from a beginner to an advanced Student. Several of Neil’s students have gone on to study at Berklee and other Institutions of higher Musical learning.

Neil currently resides in Hillsdale NJ and continues to perform and teach Guitar.
